Silvia, I think you're probably right that vyl = some form of "to be" (am, is, was, were), but until we know for sure, I really think we should leave it wide open or even off this translations page. Even getting the tense wrong might lead us to make incorrect assumptions down the line, so I think we should leave speculation to the forums and only post here what we're 100% sure of. - Molecularr

Auxiliary/modal verbs

Ruk man you esutl seek thyr jalun you to the ishka of the eutshoo.

Esutl would almost have to be an auxiliary verb, no? I can't think of any other words that would make sense in context.

Off the top of my head (please add or strike), possibilities are:

  • must (used already)
  • should
  • will
  • would
  • could
  • shall
  • can
  • may

Possibly also "need" -- "the man you need seek" would be a bit archaic sounding, but...

I'm also going to guess thyr = "will" and jalun = "lead." Phaedra 15:15, 31 October 2006 (MST)

I ytar I kiyu kynpen

There are a limited number of verbs that can appear between two Is like that and make sense. Again, off the top of my head:

  • wish
  • fear
  • hope
  • know (used already)
  • feel

Editing/Structure Suggestions

I'm thinking it would pay to create a "Lanti workspace" page that's nearly identical to the current Lanti page, but allows users to substitute unconfirmed translation ideas so that it's easier to brainstorm collectively without messing up the main page.

Also, I'm going to go ahead and put the words for which there are already translations in red in the samples so that what's already been done is more immediately visually accessible. Phaedra 15:22, 31 October 2006 (MST)
